Tour Description
GO PRIVATE IN 2027 – ENQUIRE TODAY – This Andalusia road bike tour will showcase the best of the Sierra Grazalema and Sierra Nevada natural parks. These two parks in Southern Spain host some of the most epic stages from the ‘Vuelta a España’ and ‘Vuelta a Andalucia’ pro races. The cycling tour even includes the highest asphalted road in Europe: ‘Pico de Veleta’ the biggest challenge standing at 3296m. Yes that’s right, a good 500m higher than ‘Iseran’ in the French Alps and ‘Stelvio Pass’ in the Italian Alps.

Daily Tour Overview
Day 1 – Malaga to Ronda
We will be available to meet you at Malaga International Airport at your designated arrival time. From Malaga we drive 1.5hr to Ronda spectacularly located on the Tajo Gorge. On arrival there will be time to set-up the bikes. A big week awaits!
Distance: Bike Fitting / Meals: Dinner Included / Sleep: Ronda
Day 2 – Puerto de las Palomas (Grazalema)
The Sierra de Grazalema national park is a dream cycling destination. Enjoy the turquoise coloured reservoirs, the whitewashed Andalusian villages and riding up and down quiet mountain roads with spectacular views! The challenge for the day is the Puerto de las Palomas climb. ´Palomas´ is a Category 1 climb that has been used 3 times during La Vuelta a España. It is a 12km climb with a constant 6% grade and is our favourite climb in Andalusia. During the evening we recommend that your group attends a traditional flamenco music and dance show.
Distance: 65 or 90km options/ Meals: Breakfast Included / Sleep: Ronda
Day 3 – Sierra de las Nieves
Cycling from Ronda and the route first intersects the town of Setenil de las Bodegas where the houses are actually built into the rock walls. Today is an undulating course which includes two 5-10km climbs (5-7% average grade). Cycling through the quiet winding roads of the Sierra de las Nieves national park will be sure to leave a lasting impression on you all!
Distance: 60 to 85km / Meals: Breakfast & Dinner Included / Sleep: Ronda
Day 4 – El Chorro Gorge!
we say goodbye to Ronda and you will ride out to the Malaga Lakes District. The winding roads through the Serrania de Ronda were historically infamous for bandits but today they are made for road cyclists! The Puerto del Viento climb was used during Stage 5 of the 2017 La Vuelta a Andalucia. With an average grade of 3.5% it is the perfect warm-up climb out to El Chorro gorge. Post-ride you can ride the final 30km through to Antequera or take a 1hr van transfer.
Distance: 60 to 90km / Meals: Breakfast Included / Sleep: Antequera
Day 5 – Antequera to Alhama de Granada
From Antequera the cycling heads east out to Alhama de Granada following rolling terrain. There are quality roads out to Archidona and Zafarraya to mention a few of the local towns on route. Alhama de Granada is a lovely town with plenty of Moorish history and will be great place to finish today’s ride. Post-ride there will be a 45 minute drive to your new base in Granada for the next three nights.
Distance: 80km / Meals: Breakfast & Lunch Included / Sleep: Granada
Day 6 – Reservoirs & Sierra Nevada foothills
Leaving Granada and you will begin by cycling out to the Quentar dam. The climb up to the dam wall is 11km long and averages 3% grade. As you detour around the ‘Quentar’ township the second half of the climb constantly hovers around the 5-6% grade with its steepest sections at 8%. Be sure to turn right into the reservoir area and ride down to the dam wall and take in this picturesque setting. When you are ready turn around and descend back to Granada to finish this out and back ride. For those looking for a bigger challenge, the route from Quentar Reservoir can continue following a good section of the Sierra Nevada Limite gran fondo ride which is held every May.
Distance: 50km & 100km options/ Meals: Breakfast Included / Sleep: Granada
Day 7 – Sierra Nevada Ski Station
This loop ride is based on La Vuelta a España race history and uses a combination of quiet and main roads including scenic long descents. Riding out from Granada and the action begins from Pinos Genil. The climb meets up with the wide A395 main road and continues to the ‘Dornajo’ Sierra Nevada visitor centre. At this juncture the cycling route turns left to enjoy the old road up to the Pradollano Ski Station. From the visitor centre the road snakes its way a further 8km up to the Collado de las Sabinas summit (6.5% average grade). It is a breathtakingly beautiful road which eventually takes you through to the Pradollano ski station. Now it is time to enjoy the 23km flowing descent all the way back down to Pinos Genil!
Distance: 60km or 75km / Meals: Breakfas & Dinner Included / Sleep: Granada
Day 8 – Malaga Return
Following breakfast we can drive you all 1hr to Malaga Airport. We trust you have enjoyed your Andalusia cycling experience!
Meals: Breakfast included
